Even if your child isn't easily disturbed, know that that the older sister shoots a little person and he makes a squeak that is supposed to make the viewers laugh, I know my husband does, but I did not like the whole violence is entertaining thing. Don't ignore the violence-I've known parents that do and regret it. The battle scene is mostly quick and hard to see what's going on, but one of the boys does get stabbed and is gasping for breath-so it is disturbing, and the other boy is pinned in place. Lewis, much like his friend Tolkien) made the book child-friendly (violence is glossed over/hid from) and conformed to the standards of their day (some wise, some no longer tasteful) and the movies try to modernize that, such as almost ripping out the whole war is unpleasant, especially for women thing, and making the girls part of the war and includes female centaurs-with not a terribly realistic portrayal of what things would be like for children (the teenage boy can throw off a beast and kill a wolf due to adrenaline but meets his match with a skinny armed poorly armored woman trying to handle two weapons at once, the little girl has unusually perfect aim but her older sister has to work on it).

For example the children are told by the professor that they have to trust Lucy's "delusions" because they are family, whereas in the book they are led through logic.

Just don't expect moral upliftment from the book or the movie, just interesting paralells to scripture-but that's not going to solve any of your life's problems or change your behavior. Lewis' personal beliefs and I'm not here to say that's bad.

In this movie he is portrayed as unpredictable and governs with anger and impatience towards the witch (if she asks questions he pretty much tells her to stop lecturing her or roars at her).

Finally the savior figure, Aslan, is a turnoff if you are of the opinion that the real savior is good but just can't be his full self because of restrictions. A faun character attempts to kidnap a little girl but she is unrealistically able to change him for good and by the end they are blushing and holding hands-a little girl and her former adult kidnapper! The beavers are not substance abuse users like in the vintage-era book, which is great, but they do have a roller coaster marriage. It's hard to decide who the role model is throughout this and really any of the movies and books because their roles constantly change until the author randomly decides for sure who the black sheep (for lack of a better word) is in the very last book. The author deliberately wanted his children to be good role models and have manners but he fails in the books and it just worsens in the movies as you'll see here.

The older siblings bicker a lot and say a lot of things that are outright bossy and don't regard the feelings of others. You feel sorry for a boy bullied for trying to save his father's photograph and may like that he obeys his parents more than his older brother, but then you are later told he's the bad guy because of one lie and rudeness to his younger sister-but he doesn't do anything unnatural nor is he really morally inferior to his siblings. With that said don't expect this movie, just because the book was written by a famous Christian theologian, to really do much for your children's sense of faith/morality, if at all. (Written by wife of user) This movie is absolutely beautiful to watch, the type you want to see again and again.
